Changeover normally takes place automatically during movement of the axis, but this did not happen for some reason. The reference mark should have been crossed after a single movement of the axis (approx. 100 mm) and the changeover to the direct measuring system should have taken place. The machine can be used again after this. The direct measuring system is either dirty or defective. The machine can be used again after rectification of the fault and checking of the machine zero point. After the machine has been switched on the axis will run first with the indirect measuring system. If, during movement of the axis, the reference mark of the direct measuring system is recognised, the changeover to the direct measuring system will take place automatically.
