Code 700240: Tool not engaged in spindle (1)

Issue Description & Safety Warning

The Chiron Siemens-Control CNC has triggered a critical Tool not engaged in spindle (1) alarm. Immediate attention from a qualified operator or maintenance technician is required to prevent secondary damage to the equipment or spoiled parts during the manufacturing cycle. Always ensure standard safety and LOTO procedures are followed before accessing electrical cabinets.

Official Troubleshooting Steps

During the tool clamping operation, the "Tool engaged" sensor does not signal. Feed Stop Read disable If the signals are OK again within a certain monitoring time, the machine continues to run again immediately. After the monitoring time has elapsed, the machine stops and the error has to be acknowledged. Error messages Tool change Tool not engaged in spindle (1) Strategy procedure: The coupling speed is stopped briefly if the tool is not engaged after the tool changer has been moved down. Now it is attempted to engage with "stop & go". If engagement takes place during this time the machine continues operating. If, after this attempt, engagement is still unsuccessful, the machine stops with "Read-in disable". The protective equipment can now be unlocked by pressing the [Door Bypass button]. The door can be opened and the tool turned until it is engaged. Observe safety precautions. As soon as the tool is engaged now, the door must be closed and the machining program can be continued with the [CYCLE START] key. 1. Check the sensor and the PLC input signal "Tool engaged". 2. As soon as the malfunction is remedied, press one of the following keys: [FEED START] [CYCLE START] Message is cleared and the machining program can be continued.
